![]() The fears the loss of his people as he has seen happen in other places and determines that he will wear the star in a show of solidarity. ![]() While this was a victory, harsher tests awaited the people as the Nazis began to implement other policies, including their demand that all Jewish citizens wear the yellow star. As the Nazis threaten to shoot the soldier who does so, the king steps in to say that the soldier will be him and the flag does not fly from the palace again. When the king discovers the flag he orders it removed. Things begin to change however, with the arrival of the Nazi’s into Copenhagen where they hang their frightful flag from the palace. Tall, old, silly and even great, no matter their differences, “the Danes held one thing in common: all were loyal subjects of their beloved King Christian.” The king is so beloved that he is free to ride alone and unarmed through the streets of Denmark. ![]() Summary: In 1940, WWII finds the country of Denmark filled with Danes. ![]()
